Samedan is a resort, located in the centre of the Upper Engadine and it is an attractive place with its gorgeous nature, fresh Alpine air and perfect climate.
Just above the village a ski lift will take you to a ski track very suitable for children, beginners or people who like tobogganing. You can also go to some other ski pistes in the region via train or bus. One can visit the Corviglia-Marguns and go down from there straight to Samedan. There are also available cross-country ski tracks as well as well-maintained paths for the winter hikers. Another place for tobogganing is the 4,2 kilometers long run on Muottas Muragl.

Samedan Holidays

During the summer there are also many activities – from hiking and observing the animals in the wilderness to guided trekking. You can go skating, fishing or paragliding. For the sport lovers there are tennis courts, golfing fields, paths for mountain biking and more. There are also some special programmes for children.
One attraction in the town is the Old St. Peter Parish Church which Romanesque tower dates back to the 13th century. The rest of the church is from about the end of the 15th century.
Another place you can go to is the Parish Church located in the town’s square – built in 1771 in the shape of a trapeze. Its tower is very popular and beautiful and was renovated in 1966 and 1999.
Other interesting places include the Plantahaus (Planta House) which is a large manor owned by Fundaziun de Planta Samedan with a precious Romanesque library and the Tower Bloch (Surtour) – built in 1110 for the Lords of Samedan and later turned into a prison.
