The village Champéry (Valais) is located at 1050 m. elevation, on the feet of the Dents du Midi and the Dents Blanches. Champery is one of the oldest and most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland. Its history goes back to 1857, when the first hotel “L'hôtel de la Dent-du-Midi” opened in the resort. Today one can still enjoy the well preserved, traditional architecture of Champery. Along the main street one will find lots of chalets with carved balconies and the traditional “toits en sifflet” roofs. This street charms visitors with the cosy small bars, restaurants, shops and terraces.
There are numerous events during the summer in Champéry, representing the love to the traditions and handicraft in the region. As for the nature lovers, they are able to discover around 800 km of marked paths, suitable for both - walks and mountain bike.
During the winter the cable car Champéry - Planachaux and the modern chairlift Grand-Paradis take one in just a few (less then five) min. directly into the Portes du Soleil, which is the largest internationally linked ski area world-wide. Portes du Soleil offer 650 kilometers of pistes to be enjoyed by the skiers’ and snowboarders. Moreover the Pas de Chavanette, also known as the Swiss Wall is one of the most attractive runs in the world.
As for the business travelers, Palladium of Champéry - a large panel of infrastructure offers seminar and conference rooms, large hotel, multipurpose hall with stage, expositions and congress rooms, as well as various leisure facilities, such as indoor and outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink, fitness area, etc.
Champery Transportation
Champery is situated just south of Geneva Lake and due to its proximity to Geneva, Montreux and Lausanne it can be easily reached by and airplane, train, and car.
Flying to Geneva International Airport, which is around one hundred kilometers from Champery, is a fast and comfortable option for one’s trip. Numerous large and small airlines fly to the International Airport in Geneve.
By train, one can get from anywhere in Europe right to the doorstep of Champery’s gondola.
To get to Champery by car, one should drive to Montreux and then follow the motorway
A9, in direction Simplon/Gd.-St.-Bernard; continue on the A9 and head to Exit 18 - Saint-Triphon/Monthey Nord/Pas-de-Morgins, after when just follow the signs to
Champéry and Portes du Soleil.
