Devil’s Bridge

The edifice of the Devil’s Bridge in the Schöllenen made the commercial traffic over the Gotthard region possible. The bridge acquired its name from a legend that says, no one was able to build a bridge over the dangerous ravine, so they called out the devils name. They had hardly said the word when the devil appeared and said he’ll build the bridge personally.
